The Best Places to Visit in 2025

Travel in 2025 promises to be an exciting blend of cultural festivals, natural wonders, and emerging destinations. From global events to hidden gems, here are the top places to add to your bucket list:

Faroe Islands

A tiny island nation between Iceland and Norway, and home to more sheep than people, it’s precisely the far-flung, cold-weather locale that in-the-know travellers crave.

Positioned strategically between Europe and North America, the Faroe Islands are only a couple of hours’ flight from the metropolitan centres in Northern Europe. Multicoloured cottages and grass-roofed wooden churches add focus to the grandly stark, treeless moorlands. Timeless networks of cairn-marked footpaths crisscross craggy layer-cake mountains.

But even the tiniest once-inaccessible hamlets are now linked by a remarkable series of road-tunnels. And even as you bob around the dramatic fjords on a 70-year-old wooden sloop, your mobile phone is never likely to lose its signal.

Marseille, France

France's oldest city and the second-largest after Paris, is a bustling port city located on the Mediterranean coast in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Boasting a rich history that dates back to its founding by the Greeks in 600 BC, it offers a unique blend of ancient charm and modern vitality.

The dramatic coastline, turquoise waters, and limestone cliffs of the Calanques National Park are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Bustling markets, such as Marché Noailles, offer an authentic taste of the city.  Le Panier, the oldest quarter of Marseille, fascinates with its narrow, winding streets and colorful buildings.

Peruvian Amazon

Machu Picchu gets most of the attention, but over 60 per cent of Peru is blanketed by the Amazon rainforest. When it comes to nature and wildlife in Peru, the Amazon Rainforest is the place to be.

The lush rainforest covers nearly two-thirds of the country, but is home to only 5 percent of its population. Cruise remote Amazonian waterways, make friends with local communities, swim with pink river dolphins, and walk under the canopy tree homes for flitting birds, snoozing sloths and swinging monkeys.

Peruvians take great pride in their cuisine, and every region in the country has its own traditional fare — including the Peruvian Amazon.

Cuba

Cuba has long captivated visitors with its Afro-Cuban culture, UNESCO-protected cities, gelato-coloured classic cars – and its loquacious, quick-witted locals.

A country filled with bright architecture and gorgeous beaches, Cuba is a unique mixture of old and new.

Visitors see a traditional side of the country while also experiencing the modern explosion of art, music, and food that it has undergone in recent years. From lush forests to a dynamic music scene, Cuba is a country of indefinable magic. Puff on Cuban cigars or cruise down the Havana streets in a classic car for a true taste of the good life.

Queensland

It’s no secret that Australia’s Great Barrier Reef faces unprecedented challenges as a result of climate change and severe weather events.

But experiencing this World Heritage Center-listed wonder is just one reason – and a very good one – to visit the balmy northern coast of Queensland, where ancient rainforests fringe aquamarine seas. Proving Cairns is more than just a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

The state also features rugged outback landscapes and ancient rainforests which are home to some of the world's most unusual animals.
